30:30 Apartheid in South Africa

I believe that Rugby helped South Africa overcome apartheid because it was something that the country found everyone liked. Regardless of skin color or race, rugby was a common like that both blacks and whites could come together and watch. The problem was that they would watch it together, but not cheer for the same team. Mandela showed that the past is the past and you must swallow your pride and move toward the future. Even though he was locked up for many years of his life because of the white people in South Africa, he came out of jail with an open heart, looking to make peace with whites and blacks. When black South Africans saw this, and saw Mandela wearing the South African rugby hat, they followed him. This helped end apartheid because much of the tension and fear many people had was vanished because rugby showed that blacks and whites can live together and they are no so much different from one another. Sports was the best way for these two groups to come together because it is a non violent event that brings feelings of nationalism. War would bring nationalism but in a violent way. Also it is a South African tradition so it wasn't hard for people to get thrilled and deep into the game of rugby.

Storm hits Central America

A tropical storm hit Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador during the weekend. It is estimated that 92 people died in Guatemala alone, and nearly 112,000 were evacuated. The storm destroyed homes, buildings, and towns through Central America. In Guatemala City the tremendous downpour created a sinkhole. It has been stated that a three story building and a house fell into this sink hole. It is believed that a poor sewage drainage system is the cause of the sinkhole forming. In all about 115 people died.

This is globally important because disasters like this have been happening constantly throughout the world. We are currently learning about many problems and difficulties Africa is currently having, but this is not the only place with problems. In order for Central America and other countries to overcome such events is involves help from other nations and new invention to stop such events from happening again.

Israel attacks boat to Gaza

A boat was going into Gaza with humanitarian goods. The people and groups on the boat were activists, and many were killed by Israeli soldiers. They claim that Israeli soldiers came onto their boat and just opened fire on them. However, Israel claims that they boarded the ship looking for weapons. They are fine with humanitarian goods going into Gaza, but not weapons because they don't want the Hamas to get stronger. Israel claims the activist beat them and started attacking them with knifes and even a gun. The soldiers shot them in self defense.

This has global importance because it shows the conflict of Israel. This conflict goes on every day and is a on going war between Arabs and Israelis and Palestinians and Israelis. In this story I believe that the Israeli soldiers didn't just go onto the ship and open fire. This was the fifth or sixth ship that they boarded to search for weapons, so why would they have randomly chose this ship to kill people on. I believe that they shot the people aboard because they really were being attacked and used self defense.

North Korea war

In recent news it was found that a South Korean ship was sunk by North Korea. South Korea is deciding whether or not they should retaliate. It will be very risky to attack North Korea back because North Korea claims that they will wage war. They claim they will have all out war with South Korea if they try to retaliate in any way.

This effects us globally because the North Korean and South Korean conflict has been a very large conflict for many years. They could break out into war any second and it would be very devastating. If other nations get involved it could end up being a WWIII. I believe that South Korea should attack back. They can't just let North Korea sink their ships and then not do anything about it, because that shows that they are afraid of North Korea. If they attack back they will reveal how weak North Korea is and if the U.S gets involved, also known as the world power, they would help South Korea.

Berlin Conference

The country that I had was Spain. Spain had the fifth pick in its land and only got one square inch of land. I believe that our group did the best with what we had. All main natural resources and minerals about line B, which is where we had to chose land, was taken. We chose an area right next to Ethiopia. Getting this land allows us to be next to one of the independent African nations and also allows us to have access to the Indian Ocean which the only way Spain could get to before was through Europe or around Africa. Also we chose two smaller regions with minerals.

I believe that Great Britain did the best out of all the European nations. They were allowed to have five square inches and they took a little more than what they were allowed to take but they still did very well. They got the majority of the land and were very spread out. If they didn't take more land then they were supposed to take, then I think Portugal would have won. They have good minerals and a lot of major ports. I think that Germany did the worst however. They took land right in the middle of Africa and had no way of getting out. Also they didn't do that best with ports or minerals. They got some rivers but these rivers were already taken by Portugal.

The Berlin Conference was similar to this. Britain and France got the majority of the land. Britain did the best. Africa was completely split up and looked like a puzzle of European nations much like how our map in class looked after the game. Also Ethiopia remained independent even though Italy attacked them in our game and in real life.

Scramble for Africa

When I see the phrase "The Scramble for Africa" I think of Imperialism. I think of European nations scrambling and fighting for land to own and take control of in Africa. I think of this because many European nations went to Africa and took land. When you look at the map of Africa during European Imperialism there, it is many different nations all scrambled into Africa.

Palestine blocks Israeli goods

Palestinian authorities have blocked the sale of Israeli settlement made goods. The reason they are doing this is to end their dependency on on Israel's West Bank settlements. If a Palestinian is caught with a sale like this they can be fined and punished by law. They called this the 'cancer' to Palestine and they want to stop it by any means necessary. They estimated that the sale of settlements in West Bank account for 2 million dollars worth of sales.

This is globally bad and good I feel. It is bad because this is causing more separation between the two groups and this will only cause more conflict and war. It is good though because I don't think Palestine should be dependent on Israel. But they need to make peace and I believe the way to do this is not to stop the sale of goods between each other but to talk and negotiate. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this.

Savana Folklore

The story that I read was about a girl who came across a lizard giving birth on a rock. The decided to stay and try and held the lizard give birth. Later on she is brought to a djinn who was giving birth. The djinn had been the lizard earlier, only in a different form. The girl stayed with the djinn for days and helped it. When she got home she found a man who needed a wife and got him to mary a djinn. So everyone is a child of djinns and that explains why the women are so beautiful.

The wildlife element of African folklore was incorporated in the beginning with the djinn taking the form of a lizard. It has moral instruction because it teaches you to be caring and nice for animals because they are living creatures too and that you should be caring for all living things and accept them even if they are different. It is entertaining becuase it has cool creatures in it such as a lizard and a djinn.

What was entertaining about this myth was the fact that they girl was talking with a spirit the whole time. When humans interact with nonhuman life it makes it interesting and fun to read.
This taught me how African culture teaches people to respect and care for all aspects of life and their surrounding environment. It also teaches me that they have spirtual beliefs different than the West. I can apply this to my life because I have learned to respect my environment and living things. I wasn't taught it through folklore or a djinn but I learned this lesson through other stories is the West that teach moral values.

Wonders of Africa

The first wonder that I read about was Zanzibar. I heard this word many times before but never knew what or meant or what it was. I found that Zanzibar is an island in the East African Coast. The island has a lot of culture and history to go with it. It has been a main port to traders and was ruled by Europeans at one point. The island is familiar to Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans. It has done trade for weapons, wine, luxuries, and wheat.

The second wonder that I read about was the Tuareg people. They are in the Sahara and date back to 2000 BC. They have their own alphabet and writing script. They are believed to be the founder of Timbuktu. They have attacked many times and tried to gain control of the land and it still continues today. They attacked in the 90's in Mali and Niger.

The third wonder I read about was the pyramids at Giza. There are three great pyramids here. For a long time they were ranked as the highest structure on earth until skyscrapers began to be made. It is not sure how they were mad but the architecture is well advanced. It amazed how people could build such structures will limited technology and knowledge. They have about two million blocks of stone and each weighs over two tons.

I believe that I never heard or learned about these type of amazing and good things in Africa because they are overshadowed by the bad. All I ever hear about Africa is how bad it is and how there are so many conflicts. This made me picture Africa as poor and terrible but that's not true. This website shows a new perspective that allows us to escape all of the bad and appreciate the wonders of Africa.

South African baboons

Recently in South Africa baboons have been coming into a lot of human contact. They have been wondering into cities, towns, and villages looking for food. They usually leave a trail of wreckage behind them and are scaring many people. Also this is not a good environment for the baboons being surrounded by humans. Many people such as farmers are shooting and killing the baboons if they see one.
This connects to our current unit of Africa. It is another conflict and new thing I never knew about Africa. This is globally important because it adds on to the current conflicts and problems happening in Africa. This happens to be a conflict that is not on the media much. Also it shows how many animals are losing their habitat. If baboons are needing to go into villages for food this shows that they are losing their home and habitat and have no where else to go. Many animals are losing their homes.

Construction in Israel

There is new tension between the U.S and Israel relationship. Israel has been doing new construction in east Jerusalem and the U.S are criticizing them for it. They had harsh words to the Israeli government and asked that they halt or freeze the construction. Israel had stopped and some people believed that they were freezing but the prime minister says that it was true that some construction halted as the Israelites were shocked by the harsh criticism of the U.S. , but they are not freezing the construction plans.

This has huge global importance. We are Israel's main ally in and we supplied them with weapons and helped them become a power in the Middle East. If we stopped protecting them due to harsh threats such as this then it could hurt them. Also if we aren't allies with them, then we won't have an excuse to go into the Middle East to settle disputes.

Africa

Many thoughts come to mind when I first think about Africa. I think about geography, culture, conflicts, imperialism, and many other things. When I think of geography I think about the hot climate and little water. I picture Africa being very hot and dry and since I picture them being poor or having no money I imagine people without water in a hot area. I think of a very spiritual culture. I picture people in Africa being very religious and having many ceremonies and gatherings. I picture face painting and old instruments. I also think about poverty. I know Africa is an extremely poor continent and so I imagine everyone living poor lives. When I think of conflict I think about all of the wars and genocides going of in Africa today. There is Darfur, blood diamonds, Northern Uganda war, and many other conflicts. Such conflicts cause many deaths and cause people to live in fear. I watched the movie Blood Diamond and I saw how scary it can be to live in Africa. Of course this is just a movie and not all of it is real but I know that blood diamonds are real and I have learned about it in school. When I think of Imperialism I think of Africa because in 9th grade social studies we learned how many different European nations went into Africa. This causes large cultural diversity and many battles between Europeans and Africans. Also Europeans went to Africa to buy, sell, and trade slaves.

I think that these thoughts come to mind because it is what I see in our media. Also last year we learned a little about Africa when the Europeans went into Africa so that also effects what comes to mind when I think of Africa.

Obsession

Culture of Terror:
The culture of terror is very scary. Radical Islam uses terror against Western ideas, Christianity, Judaism, or anything that goes against what they believe in. This is a scary thought that people will use terror to kill or force people to have their beliefs.
Culture of Jihad:
Children are taught that Jihad is a religious holy war for Allah. They are taught that it is good to fight for the sake of Allah. They believe that the U.S is against them and that the U.S is trying to get the whole world against them and take away Islam. They believe the west needs to be defeated. It means self struggle with the Jews and the Western world.
The Culture of Hatred:
The view the U.S and Jews as Satan. They say that we are beasts and we drink elderly ones blood. They get people to believe and think this through a lot of anti west and Jew propaganda. I think this is ridiculous because the propaganda is ridiculous and not even close to the truth. The leader and people who make these videos must know how fake this is.
Media of Terrorism:
They use media to spread terrorism through TV, radio, internet, and any other type of media source. This makes me angry how people can just use propaganda through media and people will believe what they hear and support it greatly without actually knowing the truth.
Jihad in the West:
Many people do not know much about the Jihad and who are the extremist groups. There is a lot of deception between who is for terrorism and Jihad and who is not. Some people lie in public and have different thoughts at home. I think this is very scary because you can't always trust the officials and leaders you see on TV. It was really scary that the people who bombed the towers on 9/11 trained in the U.S. That is very frightening and unbelievable.
Culture of Denial
Some people are in denial that there is a threat. Many people do not alarm the people and inform people how they should be. This only hurts the people. I feel that this is not good and we are simply hiding the people from the truth because it is a scary thought.

Nazi

They use the same propaganda and the same ideas. They outright just lie about many ideologies of Jews. I can not believe that they believe the Jews use Christian blood to make Matzah. They even had a show where the Jews killed a boy for the Matzah. They both say the same things about Jews and this just proves that the regime needs to be stopped.

Can the U.S defeat the Taliban

I do not believe that the U.S will be able to defeat the Taliban and win the war in Afghanistan. They might be able to create some peace and weaken the Taliban forces but I do not think they can stop it all together. The Taliban has so many followers and they do not listen to the U.S. They have their own rules and do whatever they think is best. They will not stop fighting and the U.S army will not be able to find them and kill every single one of them. The only way to stop the Taliban would be if they stopped their way of life and extreme beliefs and believed a democracy was best and their is no way that is going to happen. Therefore I believe that the U.S can't win the war in Afghanistan.

U.S into Iraq

I disagree with Patrick Doherty's article on why Bush went into Iraq. All of the reason that he states are very interesting though. All three reasons are good reasons why the U.S would want to go into Iraq. They would help us with our oil crisis, help Israel, and military. Going into Iraq would definitely benefit these three reasons. But I do not believe that the U.S would go into Iraq for these reasons.

The U.S would not be willing to go behind its citizens backs and lie about why they went into Iraq. They also would not take advantage of such a serious event like 9/11. Doherty seems to believe that 9/11 made our government happy or was possibly planned by the U.S government so that we could go into Iraq. This is ridiculous and 9/11 did not have anything to do with the U.S government.
I believe that they went into Iraq because they had reasonable belief that Iraq had weapons and were a threat to the U.S. They would not be able to just make this up and pretend they think they have weapons.

Oil and water Middle East

After reading the article on the U.S's dependency on oil in the Middle East I believe that it needs to be stopped soon. The U.S can't rely of the Middle East so heavily because then they can just control us by raising oil prices. The U.S should find a reliable alternative source of energy so that we can make decisions not based on whether it would anger OPEC or not. Another solution could be to take oil that is in the U.S. Alaska has a lot of oil that the U.S could dig into and supply ourselves with so that we are not as reliant on the Middle East.

I believe that the U.S should be very worried about the water crisis in the Middle East. Water is very important because you can't make oil without having water. Therefore since they are running low on water, oil will become harder to make and more valuable. This will either raise the price of oil a lot of stop the production of oil.

South Korean ship sunk

On March 26 a South Korean ship sunk. The ship was in tense waters that was near a North Korean island. The South Koreans believe that North Korea might have shot down the navy ship with an explosive. Some believe that it might have been an old North Korean mine from many years ago. Many died from the the accident and around 40 are still missing and might be dead as well.

This is globally important because this is the longest on going war. There has never been a peace treaty signed between North and South Korea ever since they split so they have constantly been at war. It is very tense between them and the smallest mess up could cause an all out war. If South Korea finds out that North Korea intentionally sank their ship this could cause a huge war. Possibly a nuclear war.

Sanctions in Iran

Obama has been pushing the UN for tougher sanctions in Iran. They want to stop them from creating nuclear weapons. Obama knows that the outcome of Iran having nuclear power is not good and could hurt many nations. Obama had negotiations with France, Germany, Russia, Britain, and China. He wants to get moving with the sanctions and stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

This is globally important because Iran getting nuclear weapons effects everyone. They will want to attack America for helping Israel in the Middle East and for being secular. They will want to attack Israel for just being in the Middle East. They could give weapons to Lebanon or Afghanistan and that would hurt India. If the world allows them to get nuclear weapons, it could possibly start a World War three. So everyone needs to come together and stop Iran from having Nuclear Weapons.

Gaza Strip 'Land Day'

Hundred of Palestinians marched to the border of the Gaza Strip and Israel. They marched to honor Land Day. This was in 1976 when 6 Palestinian protesters were killed. When the Palestinians went to the border they threw stones and in retaliation the Israeli soldiers opened fire on the crowd. They say that twelve people were wounded and one teenager was killed in the fire.

This shows the constant conflict that is going on in the Middle East. Palestinians are still fighting for Israel or Palestine to them. This has global importance because this conflict is the root of many different conflicts around the world and something needs to be done about it. If we leave things the way they are right now then this conflict will remain to go on. Something needs to be done but it will be very difficult to find peace between the two groups.

Westernization, Nationalism, Imperialism, Zionism in Middle East

1. I believe that the Arabs have such hatred towards the west because of imperialism and westernization. Many European countries came into the Middle East after the Ottoman Empire fell and took over land. This is imperialism. Then they spread their ideas through out the land they controlled and even to the land they didn't control in the Middle East. This was westernization. I believe that this brought about feelings of nationalism because people in the Middle East didn't want to lose their culture. The Middle Eastern people have strong feelings toward west because they don't want to lose their culture and don't want us spreading our ideas into their land.

2. I believe that Zionism is what has caused the hatred toward the Jews. After WWII the west gave the Jews what was Palestine. This created very strong hatred toward the Jews because the Arabian people want their land. They already had past conflict with the Jews and now Zionism caused the Jews to go into their land again and kick the Palestinians out. This is why they hate the Jews.

Veil right or wrong?

After reading the articles given in class I have gotten a whole new perspective on the veil. I never really knew why Islamic women wore a veil and truthfully I thought it was sexist toward them. But after reading the article about the western women who changed to Islam I understand how they feel. The women chose to wear a veil and it is not sexist at all. It actually is the complete opposite. Women basically say rather than liking me for my body, like me for my personality and brains. So I do believe that there is nothing wrong with women wearing a veil. It is their culture, their belief, and their way of life. The only problem I have with it is that it causes conflict with American rules and laws. This veil basically allows them to hide their identity. My problem is that they can't complain if they can't do many things because of their veil. It is not the westerners being ethnocentric when we don't allow Islamic women to do certain things because of their veil. We aren't going to change our culture so that they can live their culture. They are in the U.S so they will have to change their culture if they want to truthfully fit into society.

Muslim women veil

When I first see the pictures of women wearing veils I automatically think of the Middle East. I never really learned why or what they meant I just knew that some females from the Middle East wear a veil. I also remember a famous picture of a women who took off her veil and had amazing green eyes. Now whenever I see a veil I think of this picture. It makes me think of women being degraded because they are not allowed to show their face and that must be very unpleasant. When I see someone lighting candles with a veil I think of religious practices and the Islam religion. However, when I see just someone wearing a veil I think of 9/11 and terrorists sometimes. This is a stereotype though and is wrong.

Its not Christianity Bin Laden hates article

Reading this article has definitely changed my views on things a little bit. I never thought about or knew that some Islams hated us for being secular. I believe that they are right. We are secular and we are in their business by going over into the Middle East. It is true that we aren't as holy as them. But this does still not justify their acts.

Even though all of this is true I still don't think this is justified. We don't have the same beliefs as them and we chose to have an asset based lifestyle. That is not up to them wether we do this or not. However I can see how they are mad when we go over there. But we go over to the Middle East not to change their lifestyle but to help. They get mad at us when we go over to Israel and that is justifiable because we are the Jews only support. They get mad at us when we go into the Middle East after 9/11 but if you attack us we aren't just going to sit around and do nothing. So no, Bin Laden is not justified. Even though he has a reason to be a little mad, there is no reason or right to just hate Americans and want us to be killed/wiped off face of the earth.

Who deserves the Holy Land?

After my researching the topic and learning about the different religions in class I believe that only one religion truly deserves the Holy Land. The Jews. I believe that the Jews should get the Holy Land meaning Israel over Christians and Islamic people. They too find the land holy and important, but not as important as the land is to the Jews. The Jews deserve the Holy Land because the land is holiest to them, they were there first, and it is there only home.

Israel is extremely holy to the Jews. After they left Egypt and came back to Israel they made the land very beautiful and rich. They made temples and used gold to cover the inside of walls. This made Jerusalem a very important and wealthy capital. This land is very holy to the Jews and they made it what it is today. This land is only considered the 3rd holiest land to Islams and Christians haven't returned to the land since they were kicked out by Saladin so that shows how important it is to them.

On top of the land meaning the most to the Jews, they were there before Christians and Islam. The Jews lived in Israel or Palestine with the Palestinians. They lived happily together and never opposed each other. The Islamic religion only came to Israel when Muhammad died. So Jewish people were there before Islamic people. The Christians only came to Israel because Jesus was born there. Jewish people were there before both religions so they get to claim the land.

My last reason is they have no other place to go. Throughout history the Jews have been treated as lesser people. They were killed in Europe in the Holocaust during WWII and treated like slaves in Egypt. They were also kicked off their land by foreign invaders many times while Palestinians got to stay on the land. This is because everyone has hatred towards the Jews. So the Jews only have this land to live and call home. Islamic people however have the rest of the middle east which is a 650 fold greater in size than Israel. The Christians have a lot of land too such as Europe and The United States of America.

Afgan flag raised

On Thursday the Afghanistan's raised their flag in Marjah, a stronghold of the Taliban. The U.S has been fighting the Taliban in our largest offensive attack every. This was called Operation Moshtarak. The flag was raised over land where this attack had been fought and hundred of people attended. There were military and government officials there to watch the flag be raised too. They are trying to get many citizens to turn toward the government and start trusting them again.

This effects the world because Afghanistan has been a very dangerous place recently. There are many extremists there such as the Taliban. The U.S has been trying to stop and capture such extremists in Afghanistan for many years and this is a huge step. The U.S won a big offensive war and raised a flag in one of the main regions of the Taliban. This is a step towards ending the war in Afghanistan.

Iran nuclear threat

On Friday Israeli Defense Minister gave a speech in the U.S. Barak talked and warned the U.S about Iran's nuclear weapon possibility. He told us how if Iran got a nuclear weapon it would just be bad for Israeli but for the whole world. Barak said countries need to ignore Iran's " verbal gymnastics" about trying to justify what they are doing. He says they are building a nuclear weapon and its range could be not just Israel, but further.

This relates to the world because it is one of the very dangerous and serious conflicts going on in the Middle East. If Iran gets nuclear weapons then they can supply the Hezbollah with them to bomb Israel. Or they could bomb the U.S since they don't like us for giving the Jews Israeli. Either way Iran having nuclear weapons isn't good for anyone. This is a serious danger to the whole world.

Eathquake hits Chile

Chile was hit by an earthquake and a tsunami that followed it. They say that approximately two million people were affected by this. The earthquake was recorded at 8.8 magnitude and they say at least two hundred and fourteen people have died. After the disaster the buildings and towns in Chile were ruined and many crumbled to the ground. They now have the task of getting everyone help and safety. Thousands have been separated from their families and are looking for them. Many have tweeted looking for their loved ones.

This effects us globally because it brings people together. Everyone is always fighting about politics, and land, and military, but when terrible disasters like this happen it is almost like a wake up call to people. When a country has a problem like this and other countries come in a help and show they care it reminds that world that we are all people, regardless of what we believe in or where we live.

Biggest problem in Middle East

I believe that the biggest problem in the Middle East is oil. Much of the Middle East lies over oil and right now oil is needed by almost every country, especially the U.S. Since so many countries and nations are dependent on the oil they want the land. Some fight for land to get oil. Others will do bad things to help out OPEC and get low prices on oil.

Middle East

The Middle East is a diverse area with many different languages, cultures, and beliefs. The region is mainly dry land with a lot of desert. There is not much rain so it is very dry and if they want to farm they must use irrigation.

Over the past thousand years the Middle East has been the center of world conflict because of oil. Must of the middle east is overtop oil, which is one of the most valuable things in our world. People fight for the land and oil and that is why there is constantly conflict there.

Gandhi video response

I think that Gandhi enjoyed his accomplishments for a short while. Once the people of India started fighting I think all that he did went down the drain. He probably felt hurt that he worked to hard to give India independence and now there are all of these religious wars. I don't understand why they started fighting right away and why they can't live peacefully. They should realize they all it will cause it conflict and no one side will win. Since they fought Gandhi was not happy after India gained independence.

I believe that is Gandhi was not murdered and he lived on that he could of stopped the problems between Pakistan and India. I think that he could of done this because the everyone loved Gandhi. He was able to have the muslims and Hindus swear in their temples to stop fighting. That proves how both sides loved and would follow anything Gandhi did. All he had to do was fast and people would stop fighting because they wouldn't want him to die. Also I think by Gandhi going to Pakistan and showing how everyone is equal and they are all brothers then that would show that there can be peace. But he never got a chance to go to Pakistan.

Independence for India

I believe that Mohandas Gandhi was able to achieve independence because he used peaceful protests rather than violent protests where they would try to fight against the British. He used peaceful protests by just forming large groups and sending messages to the British and even if the British would fight he would fight back. For example when he burned the passes and as beaten but didn't fight back. Also he is very well educated and knows the law so he knows his rights and he knows that the way the British teach the Indians isn't right. Also he was able to get the Indian people behind him. He spoke to them and told them that they need to come together regardless of religion or caste system. People follow even if they don't agree with his religion because they know what he is doing will benefit all people in India, not just is religion.

Gandhi movie

In the first scene Ghandi stands up to the British by burning the passes that all Indians must carry. Even though they beat him and threaten to put him in jail he keeps burning the passes. This sends a message to the British and Indian people saying we want independence and we know our rights.

In the second scene Ghandi spoke to the Indian people. He told them that the people of India, regardless of caste system needs to come together and get India back from the British. This motivates people and starts his message.

In the third scene the Indian people are peacefully protesting and they are massacred. This put fear into the Indian people but it also shows the British that even if they use force the Indian people will not fight back. They will use peace to gain their independence.

In the fourth scene we watched Gandhi was arrested. He accepted it and said that it might be the best protest yet. In court he didn't defend himself he admitted to everything and told them to punish him if they believe and follow their system. The judge sentenced him to six years but if the queens government lets him off early than he will be very happy. This shows the respect and approval of his acts by some British. This was a good protest and way to gain independence because this will make the Indian people mad and very passionate toward the cause.

In the fifth scene he leads the protest against the tax on salt. Salt is natural from the ocean and earth so why should non British be taxed when buying it. This act is symbolic of how the British control all salt like they control all of India. So Gandhi's protest of making salt will be much more symbolic then actually taking the tax on salt away. While on the march said that he is in charge, not he British. This is because is they ignore him then he can break laws and they won't due anything about it. If they arrest him though it proves a message and he wants them to respond to him. This once again inspired more people by bring all of Indian regardless of belief together and showed that they are close to getting independence. They even arrested around one hundred thousand people but this hasn't stopped anything. Now they are going to arrest Gandhi but this still doesn't stop them. A muslim man led the protest where thousands of Indians just willing walked up to soldiers and took a beating. They didn't fight back they just took the hits. An American soldier saw this and told everyone. Once the world became know of what is happening they pressured Britain to stop what they are doing. Gandhi went to London to talk in a government meeting about India probably gaining independence.

Laws

If there is an unjust law I believe that you should transgress at once. I believe that you should go against the rule and not just accept it or be content with it. If there is a law that is unjust than you must rebel against it. The reason why you should do this is because you have nothing to lose. If you fight against it either the law remains or the law is taken away. Also it is a higher chance that it will be taken away because if it is unjust then it is probably unconstitutional which means it will be rejected. But if you just accept the law then you know that you are going to have to live with this unjust law the rest of your life. Don't accept less than excellence or else you are just giving up.

State of the Union

When I look at the words up on the screen he biggest words that I see are People, Americans, Year, and Jobs. I don't think that these are the words I should be seeing the biggest. This tells me that Obama talked a lot about the People and doing things for the people and helping America and getting jobs. But we already known that his plans are to help the people, help America, and do better this year. I think that the words that need to be said most are what we are going to do about this. I like that jobs are a big word because many people don't have jobs. I think the words that need to be said are economy, business, tax, healthcare, war, terrorism, reforms, financial status. Words like these are big topics and more exact then just people and America. So based on this worldle I don't think Obama was talking about the right things.

I think based on this wordle bot much change will be brought in our new year. The same things seem to be said over and over again and no action. I would like to see some verbs like what we are going to do about these issues. Then I would have a better look upon the countries future. But right now I believe our next year will be the same as the last.

Bush

Bush has very similar words to Obama. He had America and People very big. But he also ad congress and Iraq big too. I think this is good cause that shows he talked a lot about our problems and made them a main point. But besides that that words are the same which proves my point that the same things are said every year and not much action is done toward them or not much progress is made. As we can see Bush had the word Iraq very big but not much was done there. I think Obama's looked better though. He had a larger variety of words. Bush had a lot of words about war that were very big and everything got smaller as it went away from the topic of war. Obama had all of the main issues about the same size which means he didn't just focus on one issue such as war or healthcare. He spread out his ideas more which I like.
